  • Description
Pokémon Monster Hunter Emerald is a ROM hack of Pokémon Emerald that blends the worlds of Monster Hunter and Pokémon into one. Instead of traditional Pokémon, you’ll encounter iconic monsters from the Monster Hunter series, creating a fresh crossover experience.

As a binary ROM hack, the story, progression, and core gameplay of Emerald remain unchanged, with the focus placed on aesthetic swaps and small additions to keep the adventure feeling new. This project is designed for fans of both franchises who want a unique twist while staying true to the spirit of classic Pokémon Emerald.

Features:

Level Caps implemented for balanced progression
Physical/Special Split fully added
100+ Monsters from the Monster Hunter series replace all Pokémon encounters
Custom sprites, shinies, and team icons for every monster (no backsprite due to sprite count limits)
Item names and icons updated to better match the Monster Hunter universe
New moves introduced, including several from Gen 4+ and brand-new additions
Updated move balance to reflect modern power levels
Type chart tweaks, with two types gaining new resistances
…and more! Full details are available in the included spreadsheet
Aside from the monster replacements and listed features, the game remains largely unchanged. Optional modes such as the Battle Frontier, breeding, and the Trick House beyond the first room are not supported and may contain bugs or leftover Pokémon. Rebattling opponents may also lead to issues.

Evolution Stones
Because Monster Hunter monsters don’t evolve like Pokémon, five special Evolution Stones were added (replacing Fire, Water, Moon, etc.). These become available at different points in the game’s Market and let you upgrade monsters into stronger forms once they’ve matured. Not all monsters evolve this way, however. Basic evolutions are still intact, this is just to upgrade monsters that have reached full maturity!

Extra: Small Tips
You’ll find 999 Rare Candies in your PC for easy leveling, use them if you’d like!
Experiment with swapping teams often; there’s a lot to explore!
